Dongbu Market and Anmyeondo Fishery Market Selected for Revitalization Project
Various Events and Support Packages Planned for 2024
Taean County in Chungnam has been selected for the "Traditional Market and Shopping District Revitalization Support Project" and has secured a total project budget of 90 million KRW.
The county announced on the 10th that, as a result of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' open call, Dongbu Market in Taean-eup and Anmyeondo Fishery Market in Anmyeon-eup were chosen. Accordingly, various "Market Management Package Projects" such as concerts, cooking competitions, and seafood festivals will be promoted this year.
The Market Management Package Project is part of the Ministry's efforts to revitalize traditional markets and shopping districts. Merchant associations reflect the unique characteristics of each local commercial area and, within the budget supported by national and local funds, carry out joint marketing, hire managers, and provide merchant training.
In addition, Taean County plans to actively support the revitalization of traditional markets by adding 18 million KRW in county funds to the 72 million KRW in national funds.
Based on this, Dongbu Market will host "Business Support Package" events this year, including small concerts, various experience booths, and a seafood cooking competition for residents and tourists.
Furthermore, at Anmyeondo Fishery Market, an "Personnel Support Package" project will also be operated, which includes support for the salary of a traditional market manager.
A county official stated, "Taean County has been striving to revitalize traditional markets by opening the Taean Five-Day Market last year and holding various events with the merchant association. With this selection, we will prepare diverse support measures so that traditional markets can become even more beloved by residents and tourists."
