On the 10th, Dangjin City in Chungnam Province announced that it had completed emergency culling and set up control checkpoints in response to the outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza (AI) at a breeder farm in Yugok-ri, Songsan-myeon.

On the 9th, after confirming the presence of highly pathogenic antigens, the provincial authorities urgently dispatched an initial quarantine team and disinfection vehicles to the affected farm and issued a 24-hour temporary movement ban from 1 a.m. on the 10th to 1 a.m. on the 11th.

To prevent the spread of AI, the city deployed 50 personnel to the farm on the 10th, culled approximately 32,000 birds through rendering, and established control checkpoints around the entrance of the affected farm as part of its emergency response.

Also, on the 10th, a livestock disease countermeasure meeting was held presided over by the Vice Mayor to report on the AI outbreak and response measures, and to discuss strategies to prevent further spread and minimize damage to farms.

To prevent additional AI outbreaks, the city plans to fully mobilize its resources for AI prevention by implementing measures such as controlling access of people and vehicles to farms, disinfecting livestock facilities, restricting access to high-risk areas such as migratory bird habitats, prohibiting free-range practices in small-scale poultry farms, disinfecting areas around migratory bird habitats and breeder farms, and sending text messages with key biosecurity guidelines to poultry farms.

A city official stated, "Please refrain from entering high-risk areas such as migratory bird habitats with your poultry, and strictly adhere to biosecurity rules such as disinfecting vehicles and people entering farms, as well as cleaning and disinfecting livestock facilities," and urged, "If you notice any suspicious symptoms of AI, please report them immediately."
