Applications Accepted Until February 25
Selected Youth to Receive Up to 200,000 KRW Per Month
Support Available for Up to 24 Months
On January 10, Namyangju City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Joo Kwangdeok) announced that the "Temporary Special Youth Monthly Rent Support" program will be extended until 2027.
Namyangju City initially implemented this program temporarily to alleviate the housing cost burden on young people caused by COVID-19. Last year, the application period was extended, and now the support period has also been extended until 2027.
This program is open to all young people aged 19 to 34 who do not own a home and live separately from their parents.
Eligibility criteria include: a youth household income at or below 60% of the median income (1,430,000 KRW per month for a single-person household), assets not exceeding 122 million KRW, and for the original household including parents, income at or below 100% of the median income (5,020,000 KRW per month for a three-person household) and assets not exceeding 470 million KRW.
However, for young people aged 30 or older, or those who are financially independent from their parents due to marriage, divorce, or other reasons, only the income and asset criteria of the individual household apply. Young people living in public rental housing or in housing owned by blood relatives within the second degree are excluded from support.
Selected recipients can receive support once in their lifetime, with a maximum of 200,000 KRW per month for up to 24 months.
The application period is open until February 25, and applications can be submitted at any time. Applications can be made through the Bokjiro website or by visiting the local Eup, Myeon, or Dong offices, as well as the administrative welfare centers in the applicant's residential area. Required documents include: application form, income and asset report, lease contract, monthly rent transfer proof, and a copy of the subscription savings account, among others.
