Damyang County, South Jeolla Province (Governor Lee Byeongno), held the inauguration ceremony for the '4th Youth Policy Council' at the Myeonangjeong Room of the county office on the 10th.
During the ceremony, 31 council members were awarded appointment certificates, executive members were elected, and the roles and operational plans of the Youth Council were explained. Current youth policies being implemented in Damyang County were also shared.
The 4th Youth Policy Council, formed through a public recruitment process last December, is composed of a diverse group of members aged 19 to 49, including housewives, farmers, small business owners, and office workers, laying the foundation to reflect a wide range of youth voices in local policies.
Over the next two years, council members will engage in various activities such as communication and gathering opinions from youth, identifying and investigating youth issues and seeking solutions, providing input and participating in the research, establishment, and implementation of youth policies, and collaborating and networking with youth organizations. Through these efforts, they will address local youth issues and develop policies to resolve them.
Governor Lee Byeongno stated, "I hope the Youth Policy Council will become the foundation for Damyang to be a place where youth are happy and want to return, by discovering youth policies that local youth can relate to and feel in their daily lives."
Meanwhile, Damyang County is promoting various youth support projects this year, including the Hope Stepping Stone Savings Account, housing subsidies for employed youth, cultural welfare cards, and marriage congratulatory funds for young couples.
Additionally, to reduce the burden of childcare costs, the county is implementing a basic birth allowance of 200,000 KRW per month for the first time this year. Projects supported by the Hometown Love Donation Fund, such as supporting local children's centers to make Damyang a better place for children, are also being promoted. These initiatives provide customized, life-cycle policies for young people taking their first steps in society, as well as for parents raising families and children.
