Emergency Living Expenses of 3 Million Won Provided to Families of Jeju Air Accident Victims

Jeollanam-do's Request Leads to First-Ever Support Provided During Community Chest of Korea's Fundraising Period

Emergency living expenses of 3 million won have been provided to the families of the victims of the Jeju Air passenger plane accident.

According to Jeollanam-do, the Jeollanam-do Community Chest of Korea announced that it has provided emergency living expenses of 3 million won to 179 bereaved family members of the Jeju Air passenger plane accident victims, using special donations from the Community Chest of Korea's "Fruit of Love" fund.

The payment of emergency living expenses was made with the donations collected as of the 10th from the special fundraising campaign conducted by the central and 17 regional branches of the Community Chest of Korea from December 30 last year to January 31 this year, following the passenger plane accident.

It is customary for the Community Chest of Korea's "Fruit of Love" fund to distribute donations after the fundraising ends. However, Jeollanam-do actively requested the central government to provide support during the fundraising period for the first time in the country, in order to help the families of the victims who are facing immediate financial difficulties due to this accident.

Kim Youngrok, Governor of Jeollanam-do, said, "I hope this can provide some comfort to the families who are suffering pain and sorrow during this difficult time," and added, "Jeollanam-do will continue to provide psychological counseling and care services so that the families can fully heal their emotional wounds and return to their daily lives as soon as possible."

The special donations collected by January 31 will continue to be used to provide consolation payments and emergency care support for the families of the Jeju Air passenger plane accident victims.
