Gwangju City Arboretum announced on the 10th that it will run a variety of hands-on programs for local children during the winter vacation, from the 22nd of this month to the 28th of next month.

There are a total of three programs, targeting families with kindergarteners (ages 6 and 7) and elementary school students (grades 1 to 3). These programs are expected to help enhance children's creative thinking by providing diverse learning experiences.

The specific programs include: ▲"Plant, What's Your Name?" ▲"Winter Buds in the Snow" ▲"Bookmark Decorating with Birth Flowers."

"Plant, What's Your Name?" will be held every Wednesday, "Winter Buds in the Snow" every Thursday, and "Bookmark Decorating with Birth Flowers" every Friday at the education room in the Visitor Center of the City Arboretum. The classes run from 10:30 a.m. to 11:40 a.m.

All programs are free of charge. Families wishing to participate can apply on a first-come, first-served basis through the "Baro Reservation" system on the Gwangju City website starting at 10 a.m. on the 14th.

Starting in March, Gwangju City Arboretum plans to operate a "Forest Interpretation Program" with forest interpreters and an "Environmental Ecology Education Program" with geopark interpreters.

Lee Jungshin, Director of the Gwangju Arboretum and Garden Office, said, "I hope children will spend meaningful time with their families through the winter vacation programs," adding, "We will continue to provide a variety of programs to meet citizens' educational and cultural needs."
