On the 10th, Ulsan Ulju-gun and Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education held a ceremony to deliver the nuclear power plant disaster prevention fairy tale book, produced for the first time nationwide by Ulju-gun, at the small conference room of the county office, attended by County Governor Lee Soon-geol and Superintendent Cheon Chang-su.
The nuclear power plant disaster prevention fairy tale book was produced as part of the mutual cooperation agreement on radiation disaster prevention signed in July 2022 between Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education and Ulju-gun to advance education and training in radiation disaster prevention.
The two institutions agreed to produce and distribute the fairy tale book so that young students can more easily understand and access the behavioral guidelines during radiation disasters.
Regarding issues related to radiation disaster prevention education for preschool and lower elementary school students, which teachers had suggested in existing radiation disaster prevention education, Ulju-gun and Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education discussed and composed the content.
A public official in charge of radiation disaster prevention directly planned and produced the fairy tale book, presenting in a child-friendly way what a nuclear power plant does, how convenient it is, how to prepare in case of an accident, and how to recognize accident risks.
Ulju-gun plans to collaborate with Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education in the future to develop and distribute additional educational content on radiation disaster prevention for students, such as more fairy tale books, puzzles, and sticker books.
County Governor Lee Soon-geol stated, “We will continue to unite our intentions for mutual cooperation for the development of the Ulju-gun community and education through the establishment of an education cooperation working council to build an organic cooperative system between the two institutions.”
Ulju-gun and Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education continue to maintain a close cooperative system in the field of radiation disaster prevention, including the production and distribution of this fairy tale book.
Last year, during the Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education’s Eulji training and student safety department head capacity-building training, support was provided for instructors in radiation disaster prevention education, and joint responses have continued, including Ulju-gun’s inspection of school radiation disaster evacuee shelters, cooperation in data collection, and support for Ulju-gun’s radiation disaster prevention training.
Ulju-gun and Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education are holding a ceremony for the delivery of a nuclear power plant disaster prevention picture book and taking a commemorative photo.
