Namwon City Accepts Early Lump-Sum Car Tax Payment Applications Until the 31st

4.58% Deduction on Annual Automobile Tax for Early Payment

Namwon-si, Jeollabuk-do (Mayor Choi Kyungsik) announced on the 10th that it will accept applications for the 2025 advance payment of automobile tax until the 31st.

Taxpayers who prepay their automobile tax during this period can receive a 4.58% deduction on the annual tax amount.

Normally, automobile tax is levied in two installments, in June and December. However, vehicles with an annual tax amount of 100,000 KRW or less are charged the full amount in June, and vehicles that report and pay the annual tax by the end of this month will be excluded from the regular tax billing.

Advance payment of automobile tax is available four times a year (January, March, June, and September). If prepaid in January, a 4.58% deduction is given; in March, 3.8%; in June, 2.5%; and in September, 1.3%.

Taxpayers who prepaid their automobile tax last year will automatically receive a tax bill with the deduction applied, without needing to submit a separate application.

Payments can be made at any bank's cash dispenser (CD/ATM) nationwide without a bill, or conveniently via credit card, Wetax, or local tax account (electronic payment number) without visiting a financial institution.

However, even if you have applied for automatic withdrawal of local taxes, the advance payment of automobile tax is not processed automatically, so you must make the payment yourself.

A city official stated, "We hope that many citizens will apply for advance payment to receive deductions and prevent various disadvantages caused by delinquent automobile tax in advance."
