Reimbursement Provided Without Income Restrictions
Imsil County in North Jeolla Province announced on the 10th that it will expand support for dementia treatment and management expenses starting this year.
Previously, support was only provided to those with a household income at or below 140% of the median income who had been diagnosed with dementia and were taking dementia medication. However, the income restriction has now been lifted, and support for dementia treatment and management expenses is available regardless of income level.
The dementia treatment and management expense support program is a system that aims to strengthen community-based dementia care and alleviate the financial burden on families of dementia patients. It reimburses out-of-pocket expenses for dementia medication and medical treatment (excluding non-insurance-covered items) up to 30,000 KRW per month (360,000 KRW per year).
The county expects that elderly dementia patients and those diagnosed with early-onset dementia will be able to detect dementia early and continue treatment and management, thereby effectively improving symptoms or preventing their progression, enhancing quality of life, and reducing socioeconomic costs.
To apply, individuals should visit the Dementia Safety Center with their prescription, a copy of their bank account, and identification. For more information, please contact the Dementia Safety Center.
