Samsung SDI showcased its innovative battery products and technologies at CES 2025, the world's largest electronics and IT exhibition held in Las Vegas, USA, from the 7th to the 9th (local time).
At the customer invitation exhibition held at the Wynn Hotel located in the heart of Las Vegas, a large number of the latest products were displayed, including cylindrical batteries, prismatic batteries for electric vehicles, and the SBB 1.5 product, a power ESS solution.
In particular, the exhibition featured battery-related flagship products that received the 'CES Innovation Award' ahead of the event, as well as solid-state battery technology, which has recently attracted significant attention in the industry.
Among them, the high-density, long-life prismatic battery for electric vehicles (PRiMX680-EV), which simultaneously achieves safety and performance through innovative design and process technology, and the electric vehicle battery module (PRiMX680 Module+) that improves production efficiency and quality by simplifying the structure through wireless communication technology, captured the attention of invited industry professionals.
Additionally, the container-type energy storage system (ESS) 'SBB 1.5', which can be used immediately upon connection to the power grid and has significantly enhanced safety, and the cylindrical battery (PRiMX50U-Power) featuring high output and fast charging technology were also exhibited.
Samsung SDI also introduced next-generation solid-state batteries that achieve industry-leading energy density through proprietary anode-free technology. Since the end of 2023, Samsung SDI has been supplying samples to customers and is progressing as planned toward commercialization in 2027.
Samsung SDI operated professional docents at the exhibition, providing visitors and market research agency representatives with introductions to key products by business division, which received positive evaluations for enhancing understanding.
In particular, Samsung SDI set the theme of this 'CES 2025' exhibition as 'Powering a Sustainable Future with Super Gap Technologies' and focused on showcasing its innovative technological capabilities.
Despite several adverse factors such as the electric vehicle chasm (a temporary demand stagnation in a growing industry) and uncertainties following the inauguration of the Trump administration in the United States, the battery industry is going through a difficult period, but Samsung SDI expressed its determination to prepare for the future through proactive technological innovation.
Even amid sluggish industry performance due to weak demand caused by recent high interest rates and uncertainties in electric vehicle and battery-related policies, Samsung SDI plans to prepare for the upcoming 'super cycle' by continuously investing in differentiated technology development and innovation.
A Samsung SDI official said, "We demonstrated our efforts and determination to realize a sustainable future based on super gap technologies," adding, "We received positive responses from customers who directly confirmed our top battery technology and quality."
