Yeonggwang-gun in Jeollanam-do is gaining attention as a winter training destination for athletes from various sports.
According to the county on the 10th, starting from this day until the 18th, 387 high school soccer players from 11 teams have begun off-season training. In addition, 16 middle school teams are also participating in training.
During this period, it is expected that the stove leagues for four tennis teams, 45 kendo teams, and 16 basketball teams will also be held simultaneously, bringing even more vitality to the area.
Yeonggwang-gun is being highlighted as a winter competition and training site due to its excellent training facilities, including five soccer fields such as the Yeonggwang Sportium soccer-only stadium, two indoor gymnasiums, indoor and outdoor tennis courts, a wide variety of delicious local foods, and convenient accessibility via the West Coast Expressway.
It is expected that about 25,000 people, including athletes and parents, will visit Yeonggwang-gun during this winter competition and training period. The economic ripple effect on local businesses, including accommodations, restaurants, and specialty product sales, is estimated to reach 2.5 billion won.
A Yeonggwang-gun official stated, "We will spare no effort to support the training teams visiting Yeonggwang-gun so that they can focus on their training and improve their skills," and added, "We will continue to attract more training teams through successful winter training results and active sports marketing, contributing to the revitalization of the local economy."
