Discovering Promising Young Farmers to Lead Agricultural Development
Uljin-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, is accepting applications for the 2025 Young Farmers Settlement Support Project, organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, until February 5.
The Young Farmers Settlement Support Project provides a monthly settlement support fund of up to 1.1 million KRW for up to three years to young farmers whose income is unstable during the early stages of independent farming, aiming to help them establish themselves as stable young agricultural manpower.
Since 2018, a total of 21 individuals in Uljin-gun have been selected and received settlement support funds as young successor farmers, enabling them to settle stably in farming.
Eligibility for the Young Farmers Settlement Support Project requires meeting all of the following conditions: ① aged 18 or older and under 40 (born between January 1, 1985, and December 31, 2007), ② independent management for three years or less or planning to manage independently, ③ completed military service or exempted from it, and ④ continuously residing within the jurisdiction until the application date.
Applications can be submitted online through the Agricultural Project Information System.
The Young Farmers Settlement Support Project provides subsidies in the form of vouchers, granting each young farmer up to 1.1 million KRW per month for up to three years. The support funds must be used exclusively for agricultural management and household operation purposes.
Son Byeong-bok, the county governor, stated, “We plan to actively select and operate young farmers to revitalize the agriculture and rural areas, which have been stagnating due to the aging rural population, and to promote the rapid settlement of young farmers.”
