Attempted Murder Charge

A man who attempted to kill his daughter-in-law due to family discord was arrested by the police.

The Mapo Police Station in Seoul announced on the 10th that they have booked Mr. A (79) on charges of attempted murder and are investigating the case.

Mr. A is accused of stabbing his daughter-in-law, Ms. B, in her 50s, with a weapon at an apartment in Changjeon-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul, around 8:20 a.m. that day in an attempt to kill her.

It was reported that other family members were present in the house at the time of the crime. The police, who responded to the report, arrested Mr. A at the scene as a suspect caught in the act.

Ms. B sustained an injury to her shoulder and was transferred to a nearby hospital for treatment; her life is not in danger.

The police are investigating the specific motive for the crime, believing that Mr. A committed the act due to family discord.
