Through this agreement, the two institutions agreed to mutually cooperate in fostering specialized technical personnel in the field of semiconductor design.

Accordingly, MagnaChip Semiconductor will hold corporate briefing sessions for prospective graduate students or current graduate students of Pusan National University's Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and the newly established Department of Semiconductor Engineering (starting September 2025), select scholarship recipients, and cooperate to facilitate employment connections after graduation.

Pusan National University plans to nurture the scholarship recipients selected for the "Pusan National University-MagnaChip Track" as specialized technical personnel related to semiconductors.

MagnaChip Semiconductor is a company that designs and manufactures analog and mixed-signal semiconductors embedded in applications such as telecommunications, IoT, home appliances, computing, industry, and automotive. Over the past 40 years, it has accumulated extensive expertise in engineering, design, and manufacturing processes. Currently, it holds or has applied for approximately 1,000 patents.

In 2023, Pusan National University was selected for government semiconductor specialized university support projects such as the "Semiconductor Specialized University Support Project" and the "Regional Semiconductor Joint Research Center Establishment Project" aimed at securing a semiconductor super-gap.

Taking this opportunity, Pusan National University has designated power semiconductors and semiconductors for extreme environments such as automotive, aerospace, and defense as specialized fields, creating a large-scale industry-academia-research cooperation cluster in the southeastern region that can lead the semiconductor industry in Busan, establishing itself as a semiconductor education hub encompassing universities and industries in the southeastern region.

At the signing ceremony, Choi Jae-won, President of Pusan National University, said, "We appreciate the trust in Pusan National University's semiconductor education capabilities by selecting scholarship recipients and supporting scholarships and employment connections. Pusan National University will operate specialized education programs from undergraduate to graduate levels to nurture excellent semiconductor technical personnel."

Woo Hyuk, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of MagnaChip Semiconductor, stated, "We are very pleased to cooperate with Pusan National University through this agreement to cultivate excellent personnel needed by the company. We hope that the two institutions will develop into a world-class university and company in the field of power semiconductors."
