The police have launched a compulsory investigation into Gwangju City Council member Lim Miran, who is suspected of violating the Political Funds Act.
The Anti-Corruption and Economic Crime Investigation Unit 1 of the Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency sent investigators on the 10th to search and seize all documents from Lim Miran's office and residence located in Seo-gu, Gwangju.
Lim is accused of lending 50 million won in April 2022 to a fisheries company corporation in Boseong-gun, Jeonnam, under the pretext of land purchase funds, and then using a separate corporate card for personal expenses totaling about 14 million won.
It is known that Lim has claimed the funds were simply for debt repayment.
Meanwhile, the police plan to summon Lim for questioning once the analysis of the evidence obtained during the search and seizure is completed.
