Uijeongbu City Welcomes Uijeongbu Technical High School's Name Change to Korea Mobility High School

Uijeongbu City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Dong-geun) announced on the 10th that it held a roundtable meeting regarding the renaming and department reorganization of Uijeongbu Technical High School.

The roundtable meeting was attended by Mayor Kim Dong-geun, Principal Kim Joo-han, chairman of the Uijeongbu Technical High School Renaming Promotion Committee, Vice Principal Lee Deok-hyo, and Administrative Director Lee Myung-seop. It was an occasion to express support and encouragement for Uijeongbu Technical High School’s transition into a prestigious specialized high school aimed at nurturing talent in new industrial fields in the Uijeongbu area.

The new name of Uijeongbu Technical High School, ‘Korea Mobility High School,’ reflects the city’s ‘2035 Urban Development Master Plan (Draft)’ and the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education’s ‘Vocational High School Future Education Restructuring Promotion Plan,’ embodying the meaning of the nation’s first high-tech specialized high school.

Uijeongbu Technical High School plans to cultivate global technical talents in various mobility fields such as ▲smart city infrastructure and architectural design ▲future energy convergence and applications ▲robotics and customized platform construction ▲future automobiles and intelligent mobility implementation.

Mayor Kim Dong-geun said, “Uijeongbu Technical High School was once called a prestigious school, but the need for continuous change has been raised,” adding, “I hope it will successfully leap forward under the new name ‘Korea Mobility High School,’ realize ‘a city that changes my life, Uijeongbu,’ and nurture local, national, and global talents.”

Meanwhile, Uijeongbu Technical High School was established in 1943 as Uijeongbu Agricultural High School, and its name was changed to Uijeongbu Commercial High School in 1961, Uijeongbu Comprehensive High School in 1964, and Uijeongbu Technical High School in 1974. The name Uijeongbu Technical High School has been maintained for about 50 years to date.
