Kwon Young-se: "The CIO Seems to Have Made the Arrest of Yoon Its Goal"
Discusses Constitutional Amendment with Constitutional Association Chairman... "Systemic Issues Over Individual Matters"
On the 10th, Kwon Young-se, Emergency Response Committee Chairman of the People Power Party, paid a courtesy visit to Jinwoo Sunim, the Chief Executive of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism, and said, "I requested the great monk to help because the president being handcuffed and dragged out of his own home lowers the dignity of the country."

After meeting Jinwoo Sunim at the Korean Buddhist History Memorial Hall that day, Chairman Kwon told reporters, "The great monk said that while it was wrong for the president’s side to refuse the summons, being arrested and taken away is not a good image, so he hopes both sides will compromise well to avoid such a scene and that the judicial process will proceed smoothly."
He added, "I also said that since the president’s legal team has already expressed their intention to attend the substantive hearing of the warrant, and since both sides have submitted the Special Prosecutor Act and are showing possibilities for negotiation, efforts will be made to avoid any bloodshed that could occur during the execution of the arrest warrant."
Chairman Kwon also continued his criticism of the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO). He emphasized, "In some respects, the arrest is ultimately just part of the process of investigating, prosecuting, and proceeding based on whether the president committed the crime of insurrection or not. However, seeing the CIO chief’s response in the National Assembly yesterday, it seems that the arrest itself is the objective. Watching such statements, I cannot help but feel very concerned."
Regarding his scheduled meeting with Jeong Dae-cheol, Chairman of the Constitutional Association, Kwon said, "Regarding martial law, our system is a system that has not succeeded, and I think there is agreement that this is more due to the system rather than individual issues of the president." He added, "(Chairman Jeong) believes that it is not important to quickly impeach the president, but fundamentally solving our political system problems requires adopting a different form of government as part of reforming this system." He continued, "Chairman Jeong said he would discuss such issues with me, so I do not know exactly what proposals he will bring, but I intend to have related discussions."
