The Bicycle Healing Shop operated by Gwangju Nam-gu Office (headed by Kim Byungnae) recorded a total of around 1,700 visitors last year, with an average of 10 to 20 people visiting per day during its operating period.

According to Nam-gu on the 10th, the Bicycle Healing Shop is a newly introduced policy project launched last year to promote bicycle use and create an eco-friendly green city.

The district has set up the Bicycle Healing Shop on the first floor of the district office annex, providing repair services for bicycles in need of maintenance as well as rental services for shared bicycles.

The Bicycle Healing Shop opened in March last year and welcomed customers for 140 days, from Tuesday to Friday each week, excluding public holidays, until November 30 of the same year.

Over the past nine months, the shop was visited by 1,702 residents, averaging 12 riders per day.

Most visitors came for maintenance and inspection purposes.

Of the users, 1,618 visited to repair city bikes and mountain bikes. The most frequently used services were chain oil application, handlebar and saddle height adjustment, tire pressure checks, and puncture repairs.

Additionally, 84 users visited the shop to rent shared bicycles. Currently, the Bicycle Healing Shop has a total of 25 bicycles, including 11 regular bicycles, 11 children's bicycles, and 3 electric bicycles.

It was also found that the Bicycle Healing Shop was busiest during spring and autumn, the most suitable seasons for cycling.

During peak season, around 20 people use the service daily. Considering that the shop operates for six hours a day, excluding lunchtime, at least three bicycles were maintained or inspected every hour during spring and autumn.

A Nam-gu official stated, "Since an expert is on duty, visitors can receive meticulous maintenance, and word has spread about the high level of skill, leading to many people visiting the Bicycle Healing Shop and high satisfaction levels. We will do our best to ensure that bicycles become a popular means of transportation for the public through the operation of the Healing Shop."
