Awarded Excellence in Last Year's City and County Agricultural Administration Evaluation
Sweeping Ministerial Commendations Including Agricultural Facility Safety Management Policy
Paju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Kyung-il) has achieved valuable results by receiving various institutional awards related to agricultural administration through efforts to innovate agricultural policy in the 8th local government term last year.

According to Paju City on the 10th, the city has been dedicated to strengthening agricultural competitiveness with the goal of "creating sustainable agriculture and rural areas" in 2024.
Paju City received an excellence award by achieving high scores in 33 indicators including agricultural policy, agro-food distribution and industry revitalization, and fostering eco-friendly agriculture in the "2024 City and County Agricultural Administration Evaluation" hosted by Gyeonggi Province.
There were also achievements in the field of agricultural disaster safety. In July 2024, during record-breaking heavy rains that caused severe damage to agricultural infrastructure, prompt emergency restoration prevented further damage. In addition, the city was recognized for its contributions to managing agricultural production infrastructure such as maintenance of drainage pumping stations, repair and dredging of agricultural infrastructure, and maintenance of irrigation facilities, and was selected as an excellent institution in the "2024 Agricultural Facility Safety Management Policy," receiving a commendation from the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.
Furthermore, Paju stood out in appropriate rice production. By actively promoting government policies for stable rice supply such as securing stable rice production volume, reducing production costs, and converting paddy fields to other crops, and exceeding the target volume of the strategic crop direct payment project encouraging cultivation of other crops like soybeans and forage by 140%, Paju was selected as an excellent institution in the 2024 rice appropriate production evaluation and received a commendation from the Governor of Gyeonggi Province.
Moreover, valuable results were also achieved by diligent public officials. Two officials received the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs commendation in the fields of public direct payment projects and agricultural disaster response, and four officials received the Governor of Gyeonggi Province commendation in three fields including comprehensive city and county evaluation, agricultural policy, and agro-food distribution.
In addition, on December 6th, the mayor of Paju was honored by being selected for the "2024 Agricultural Development Innovation Award," presented by the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation to meritorious persons who contributed to increasing agricultural income and the development of agriculture and rural areas. This award is given to one city or county in each of the eight provinces nationwide, with a total of eight recipients, and the mayor of Paju was recognized in Gyeonggi Province for contributions such as fostering the local food industry and establishing a virtuous circulation system for distribution between urban and rural areas.
Mayor Kim Kyung-il of Paju said, "The achievements in the agricultural sector are the result of the hard work of farmers who have protected Paju agriculture despite the rainy season and heat waves, and the active execution of agricultural administration by public officials," adding, "We will spare no support to ensure the continuous development of Paju agriculture."
