Introducing LG Alphaware, an Innovative SDV Solution for Vehicle Infotainment and Software
Eun Seok-hyun, head of LG Electronics' Vehicle Components (automotive electronics and electrical equipment) business, and Vice President of the VS Division, has been recognized as a leader driving software-defined vehicle (SDV) technology trends by the global automotive media 'MotorTrend.'

LG Electronics announced on the 10th that Vice President Eun received an award in the Leader category at the '2025 SDV Innovator Awards' hosted by MotorTrend. Founded in 1949, MotorTrend is the largest automotive media group in the U.S. and hosts several prestigious awards in the automotive industry, including the 'Car of the Year.' LG Electronics described the award received by Vice President Eun as "a prestigious honor that can only be awarded to individuals who have led SDV innovation." The award ceremony took place on the 7th (local time) in Las Vegas, USA, during CES 2025, the world's largest electronics and IT exhibition.
LG Electronics emphasized the significance of Vice President Eun's award in further solidifying the VS Division's status within the industry. Since his appointment as head of the VS Division in 2022, Eun has strengthened core SDV capabilities such as vehicle infotainment (IVI), displays, software, telematics, and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS).
In particular, last year, LG Electronics redefined the car not just as a means of transportation but as a wheeled living space by introducing its SDV solution 'LG Alphaware.' LG Alphaware includes Playware, Metaware, Baseware, and Opsware. Playware is an IVI that provides high-definition and high-quality audio-visual content experiences. Metaware offers information through augmented reality (AR), mixed reality (MR), and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. Baseware enhances the performance of existing vehicle operating systems (OS) or supports the development of new platforms. Opsware assists developers throughout the entire development process, including software integration.

LG Electronics stated that the VS Division developed a platform integrating IVI and ADAS technologies in collaboration with various partners. The platform enhances vehicle performance and driving convenience for customers by enabling real-time data sharing between IVI and ADAS. It also obtained the International Common Criteria Certification, which evaluates the security stability of vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication modules.
Vice President Eun said, "This award is a recognition of LG Electronics' contributions to the advancement of SDV technology," adding, "We will continue to pursue challenges to lead innovation in the future mobility industry."
Meanwhile, during CES 2025, LG Electronics will operate a space showcasing its empathy intelligence-based advanced mobility technology 'In-Cabin Sensing' (driver and vehicle interior space detection) solution. Visitors can experience future mobility and driving trends through a driving simulation in the 'Vision AI Mobility Concept' vehicle.
