Resumption of Village Bus Service on Suspended Routes Expected to Improve Traffic in Nearby Areas
Trial Operation of One Electric Vehicle Initiated Until Full Delivery
Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that from January 10, the operation of the village bus route Geumcheon 11-1 will resume to alleviate transportation inconveniences for residents.
The Geumcheon 11-1 village bus runs from Seoul Municipal Geumcheon Youth Center to Seoksu Station, stopping at Geumcheon High School, Bakmi Village, Siheung Valley, and Siheung 2-dong Community Service Center.
The operating hours are from 5:30 AM to 10:30 PM, with 16 trips per day and an interval of about 25 minutes between buses.
The Geumcheon 11-1 route is resuming after about 8 years since its suspension in September 2016 due to financial difficulties. To improve fiscal soundness and reflect local transportation demand, the starting point was changed from Sangi-suk Park to the Seoul Municipal Geumcheon Youth Center, and the route was adjusted accordingly.
This route has been allocated three electric buses, which are currently awaiting delivery and are expected to be deployed in February. Once the buses are put into service, the interval between trips will shorten, improving transportation convenience for residents.
Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, “With the resumption of the Geumcheon 11-1 route, transportation access for nearby residents will be secured, and congestion during commuting hours is expected to improve. We will continue to do our best to minimize residents’ inconveniences and enhance the convenience of public transportation use.”
