The support areas include five fields: ‘Neighborhood Neighbor Making’ for residents starting village activities, ‘Seedling Community Activity Support’ for discovering local agendas, ‘Fruit Community Activity Support’ for solving local issues, ‘Community Media Support’ for promoting community activities using various media channels, and ‘Community Space Revitalization Support’ for individuals and groups operating community spaces.

The district plans to select 45 resident groups and provide a total of 61 million KRW, with a minimum of 1 million KRW and a maximum of 3 million KRW per group. Anyone who is a resident or lives within the living area of Seongdong-gu and is part of a group or organization of three or more people can apply. The proposal submission period is until February 7, and application documents such as project plans can be submitted by email or in person at the Seongdong-gu Village Autonomy Support Center.

To help understand the contest project, a ‘Village Community Contest Project Briefing Session’ will be held at 2 p.m. on January 14 in the main auditorium of Seongdong-gu Office. The session will provide detailed guidance on the project schedule and how to write proposals, and any interested residents can participate.

For more detailed information regarding the contest project, inquiries can be made through the Seongdong-gu Office’s Autonomous Administration Division or the Seongdong-gu Village Autonomy Support Center.

Last year, a total of 45 projects were supported, including care and community media, environment, and more. Various resident-led projects that reaffirm the value of community were carried out, such as profit donations and local care for neighbors in need, promoting livable villages, the children’s Samulnori band ‘Generational Integration Harmony Yard,’ production of goods to alleviate daily inconveniences for seniors, and conducting the Seongdong Gardening education course.

Jung Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, said, “The ‘Village Community Contest Project’ is meaningful in that residents, the owners of the village, directly solve village problems and work together to build a better Seongdong to live in. We will continue to listen carefully to the diverse voices of residents and actively promote various projects that can improve the quality of life for residents.”
