January 7 New Year's Meeting Held... Sharing New Year's Goals and Vision
Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) held the '2025 New Year's Greeting Meeting' on the 7th to share the new year's district administration goals and vision with the attendees.
The event, held in the auditorium on the 2nd floor of the district office, began with a pre-performance by the conductor of the district youth orchestra, followed by ▲a congratulatory performance by the district boys and girls choir ▲screening of residents' New Year wish videos ▲New Year's address presentation by the mayor ▲congratulatory speeches by key guests ▲and a celebratory song by the district women's choir.
Many residents attended the event, and city and district council members, heads of related organizations and professional groups, as well as the Superintendent of the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education, also graced the New Year's greeting meeting with their presence.
Mayor Lee Pil-hyung of Dongdaemun-gu, who took the podium to explain the district's new year goals and vision, introduced the four key projects for Dongdaemun-gu in 2025 as ▲an education city ideal for raising children ▲a culturally rich city for a prosperous life ▲a companion city that supports the vulnerable ▲and a future city at the center of the northeastern region.
The mayor then explained the detailed strategies for these four projects.
He announced plans to improve the educational environment through 'career and job experience linked with local universities' and 'age-specific English education support for elementary school students,' and to newly introduce the 'Kim Kwang-seok Cultural Festival' alongside the existing spring flower festival and beer festa.
He also presented the goal of making Dongdaemun-gu a culturally rich city by creating a 'water sports experience center' at Jungnangcheon Stream and a 'Street of Light' along Wangsanno to Janghanro.
Additionally, he stated that support for single-person households, people with disabilities, infants, and the elderly will be strengthened centered around the 'Dongbaek Elderly Comprehensive Welfare Center (scheduled to open this March),' the 'Hwikyung Imunnuri Comprehensive Social Welfare Center (scheduled to open this September),' and the 'Agasarang Center,' which opened last October.
Mayor Lee, who plans to reorganize the area around Cheongnyangni Station and steadily promote the 'Global Top 5 Cheongnyang Market Mall' project to advance Dongdaemun-gu as a 'future transportation city,' concluded the New Year's greeting meeting by shouting "Dongdaemun! I like it!" together with the guests, wishing all Dongdaemun residents a happy 2025.
