Park Jumin: "Yoon's Warrant Execution Is Legal... Arrest Without Mercy If Obstructed"

Park Ju-min, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, said on the 9th to Oh Dong-woon, the head of the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO), "If the lawmakers of the People Power Party obstruct the execution of the arrest warrant for President Yoon Seok-yeol, arrest them without leniency."

On the same day, during an emergency inquiry on the 12.3 martial law held at the National Assembly in the afternoon, Rep. Park asked Director Oh, "The Security Office is obstructing the execution of a lawful arrest warrant citing security reasons," and inquired, "What is the definition of 'security' under the Security Act?"

He explained, "According to the Act on the Protection of the President, security activities are defined as actions to protect the life and property of the protected person by preventing or removing harm to the body."

He then asked Director Oh, "When the CIO conducts investigations, do they assault the investigation subjects or threaten their lives? Also, do they extort 100,000 won per question if the subjects do not answer as the CIO wants or exercise their right to remain silent?" Director Oh responded, "That is not the case."

Rep. Park criticized, "Nevertheless, the Presidential Security Service is blocking the execution of the warrant even though the warrant is lawful and the investigation by the authorities does not involve harmful acts."

He further asked, "If a majority of lawmakers form a scrum and block the execution of the warrant, is that considered obstruction of official duties?" Director Oh replied, "Obstruction of warrant execution is equally subject to the offense of obstruction of official duties."

Then Rep. Park said, "If they form a scrum and obstruct the execution of the warrant, they should be arrested without leniency just because they are lawmakers."
