American broadcaster Tyler Rasch shared a ridiculous experience he had at a cafe in Korea.
On the 8th, Tyler posted on his Instagram, "Oh my god, this is unbelievable. The moment that makes Americans want to sue. Have you ever experienced something like this? I feel like living analog is becoming a disadvantage, or is it just my imagination?" along with a short video.
In the video, Tyler explained that he lined up at a cafe during lunchtime to choose the sandwich he wanted to eat. Suddenly, an employee approached and took the sandwich from Tyler's hand while he was waiting to pay.
Tyler said, "The employee told me, 'Sorry sir, but this sandwich has already been paid for,'" and added, "When I asked why, they said that while I was waiting to pay, another customer ordered through the app, so they had to give it to that person," expressing his disbelief. He showed a confused expression and said, "If that's the case, why is the display case designed to open from the front so that I can reach in and pick a sandwich?"
He continued, "It's really absurd," and said, "The conclusion is that not everything is better just because it's mechanized." He then asked, "Have you ever experienced something like this? I feel like living analog is becoming a disadvantage, or is it just my imagination?" The video was also tagged with hashtags like #WhoStoleMyLunch #Tyler.
Netizens who saw Tyler's story responded with comments such as "They should have canceled the app order, not take the customer's sandwich," "Not all Korean cafes are like that, don't misunderstand. I've never heard of this," "They really should have arranged for the employee to be the one taking the sandwiches out," "The staff is really strange," "They handled it terribly," "Maybe they just acted rudely because he's a foreigner," "Probably too lazy to cancel the order," and "Having your sandwich taken right in front of you must have been really frustrating," among others.
