NBS "62% Say Constitutional Court Should Dismiss Yoon... 59% Say Arrest Is 'Necessary Measure'" [Polpol News]

Impeachment Dismissal Support at 33%
Lee Jae-myung Leads Next Presidential Suitability at 31%

A public opinion poll revealed that 6 out of 10 citizens believe the Constitutional Court should dismiss President Yoon Seok-yeol.


According to the National Barometer Survey (NBS) conducted from the 6th to the 8th by Embrain Public, K-Stat Research, Korea Research, and Hankook Research (a nationwide survey of 1,000 men and women aged 18 and over using mobile phone interviews; margin of error ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level; response rate 22.8%), 62% of respondents said the Constitutional Court should "accept the impeachment and dismiss" President Yoon, while 33% said it should "reject the impeachment and allow him to return to office."

Regarding the arrest of President Yoon, 59% responded that it is a "necessary measure," while 37% considered it an "excessive measure." Concerning President Yoon's response during the impeachment trial process, 65% believed he was "doing wrong," whereas 30% said he was "doing well."


In the suitability survey for the next presidential candidate, Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, ranked first with 31%. Following him were Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon and Daegu Mayor Hong Joon-pyo, each with 7%, forming the second tier. Former People Power Party leader Han Dong-hoon received 5%, People Power Party lawmaker Ahn Cheol-soo 4%, and National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-shik 3%.


Regarding favorability ratings, Lee Jae-myung had 37%, Speaker Woo 33%, Mayor Oh 23%, Mayor Hong 21%, former leader Han 17%, and Reform New Party lawmaker Lee Jun-seok 13%. In terms of party-based presidential candidates, support for the Democratic Party was 41%, ranking first, followed by People Power Party candidates at 29%, the Innovation Party at 2%, and the Reform New Party at 2%.


In party support, the Democratic Party stood at 36%, People Power Party at 32%, Innovation Party at 7%, and Reform New Party at 3%.
