The prospect of the Metropolitan Area Express Railway (GTX) Line B stopping at Galmae Station is becoming more tangible, drawing increased attention from local demanders. If the GTX line stops at Galmae Station, passengers will be able to quickly travel not only to Seoul but throughout the metropolitan area via transfers. In particular, being designated as a GTX transfer station offers advantages such as the development of surrounding infrastructure and the potential rise in property values.
The Metropolitan Area Express Railway (GTX) Line B is a project connecting Incheon Yeonsu-gu Songdo International City to Gyeonggi Namyangju-si Maseok via a metropolitan express railway. The publicly funded section (Yongsan~Sangbong) of this line began construction at the end of last year. The privately funded section from Incheon Songdo International City to Yongsan completed its detailed design approval in July. Construction is underway with the goal of opening the entire line by 2030.
Notably, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced last October that it plans to review the addition of a stop at Galmae Station on GTX Line B. The review for adding a stop at Galmae Station is at the request of Guri City and is expected to be decided by the end of the first half of next year.
To this end, the Korea Rail Network Authority will conduct the ‘Feasibility Verification Service for GTX-B Line Extension Project’ along with the ‘Feasibility Verification Service for Additional Stop at Galmae Station on GTX-B Line’ around November.
The feasibility verification service for the line extension will examine whether to extend GTX-B to Gapyeong and Chuncheon. Regarding this, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport explained in a press release, “Gapyeong County and Chuncheon City have requested the government to extend GTX-B under the ‘polluter pays principle,’ where the respective local governments bear the extension costs.” Reflecting this request, the ministry plans to review financial and technical feasibility and decide on the extension by the end of the first half of next year.
The feasibility verification service for adding a stop at Galmae Station, scheduled alongside the extension feasibility review, was initiated at Guri City’s suggestion. During the first half of this year, Guri City independently conducted a ‘Pre-feasibility Study for Stopping at Galmae Station’ and concluded with a benefit-cost ratio of 1.57. A figure above 1 indicates that the benefit-cost ratio (B/C) is high enough to justify proceeding.
Reflecting this request, the Rail Network Authority will reanalyze the pre-feasibility study results conducted by Guri City through the feasibility verification for the additional stop at Galmae Station. It will also verify the appropriateness of benefits and examine economic feasibility and funding plans. The authority plans to carry out this work over 180 days from the start date and reach a conclusion by the end of the first half of next year.
A real estate expert said, “Interest among demanders is focused on the promotion of the GTX-B line extension project and the addition of stops,” adding, “As long as Guri City’s polluter pays principle is upheld, the outlook is favorable for the addition of a stop at Galmae Station, so interest from demanders near the beneficiary areas is expected to increase further.”
Already benefiting from the extension and opening of Subway Line 8, Namyangju and Guri are buzzing with anticipation for the additional stop at Galmae Station on GTX-B Line. In fact, after the opening of the ‘Byeollae Line,’ an extension of Subway Line 8, accessibility to Seoul’s Gangnam area has improved, pushing apartment prices near stations in Namyangju and Guri to record highs.
Travel time from Byeollae Station to Jamsil Station has been reduced to 27 minutes, making commuting more convenient. Moreover, even without using Line 8, it is easy to reach major areas in Seoul with just one transfer at lines such as Line 5 (Cheonho), Line 2 (Jamsil), Line 9 (Seokchon), Line 3 (Garak Market), and Suin-Bundang Line (Bokjeong·Moran).
In particular, Guri City’s accessibility to Seoul has improved with the addition of three new stations: Jangja Lake Park Station, Guri Station, and Donggureung Station. From Guri Station, it takes only 19 minutes to reach Jamsil Station. Previously, traveling from Guri Station on the Gyeongui-Jungang Line required transferring at Wangsimni Station on Line 2, taking about 43 minutes, so the travel time has been reduced by more than half.
Meanwhile, near Guri Galmae Station, which is being considered as an additional stop on GTX-B Line, a location that combines excellent Seoul accessibility and the pleasant environment of a housing district is attracting attention as a place suitable for business operations. The complex business center ‘Hyundai Terra Tower Guri Galmae,’ supplied in the Guri Galmae District of Gyeonggi Province, is the main attraction.
‘Hyundai Terra Tower Guri Galmae,’ constructed by Hyundai Engineering in the Guri Galmae District of Gyeonggi Province, is geographically located right next to Seoul, offering excellent access to Gangnam and outstanding transportation conditions in all directions, resulting in high satisfaction among companies and workers.
Its geographical advantage of being located right next to Seoul for easy access, along with a convenient transportation network in all directions, are considered the distinctive strengths of this complex. It allows use of both Byeollae Station and Galmae Station on the Gyeongchun Line subway, and it is just one stop away to Sinnae Station in Jungnang-gu, Seoul. Furthermore, with the opening of Line 8 Byeollae Station and the completion of GTX-B Line, which began construction last March, access to Seoul’s Gangnam area is expected to be possible within 28 minutes. Additionally, Galmae IC and Toegyewon IC are nearby, facilitating easy entry and exit to the Sejong-Pocheon Expressway (Guri~Pocheon) and the Metropolitan Area 1st Ring Expressway, making wide-area travel convenient.
Located in Galmae-dong, Guri City, Gyeonggi Province, ‘Hyundai Terra Tower Guri Galmae’ is a complex knowledge industry center with a total floor area of approximately 103,805㎡, consisting of basement 2 floors to 10 floors above ground, combining knowledge industry centers and commercial facilities. In particular, the knowledge industry center is composed of live offices, business types, and drive-in types, providing optimal conditions to support successful business operations for various types of companies.
A sales official stated, “‘Hyundai Terra Tower Guri Galmae’ offers excellent access to Gangnam, making it optimized for business activities,” adding, “With the extension and opening of Line 8 Byeollae Station and the planned additional stop on GTX-B Line, it is rapidly emerging as a transportation-benefited complex.”
Meanwhile, ‘Hyundai Terra Tower Guri Galmae’ is being developed as a complex knowledge industry center combining knowledge industry centers and commercial facilities with a total floor area of approximately 103,805㎡ from basement 2 floors to 10 floors above ground. It is currently undergoing occupancy, and detailed information about occupancy and sales can be obtained at the sales promotion center on the first floor of the complex.
