Hybrid Included in 'M' as Well... BMW 7th Generation M5 Launched in Korea

BMW Korea is launching the 7th generation fully redesigned model of the high-performance sports sedan, the BMW M5, in the domestic market. For the first time in M5 history, a plug-in hybrid system has been applied to enhance performance.

On the 9th, BMW Korea announced the official domestic launch of the 'BMW New M5.'

In this generation, hybrid technology has been applied for the first time since the M5 was first introduced in 1984. The M Hybrid system combines the M TwinPower Turbo V8 4.4ℓ gasoline engine with the 5th generation BMW eDrive technology. It delivers a maximum output of 727 horsepower and a peak torque of 101.9 kgf·m, which are increases of 16.3% and 33.2% respectively compared to the previous generation. The acceleration time from 0 to 100 km/h is 3.5 seconds. The electronically limited top speed is 250 km/h. With the 'M Driver’s Package,' acceleration can reach up to 305 km/h.

With the application of the hybrid system, fuel efficiency has also improved. The combined fuel economy has increased by 4.4 km per liter compared to before, reaching 12.0 km/ℓ (engine + electric motor). Equipped with an 18.6 kWh (net) capacity high-voltage battery, it can travel 61 km on electric power alone on a single charge, with a top speed of up to 140 km/h.

The 8-speed M Steptronic automatic transmission and intelligent all-wheel-drive system M xDrive have been applied to improve acceleration performance and driving safety. The M Adaptive Suspension, which adjusts damping force in real time according to driving conditions and modes, and the rear-wheel steering function, applied for the first time in the M5, ensure grip and ride comfort.

The exterior emphasizes the dynamic character unique to high-performance sports sedans. The interior is equipped with a steering wheel and seats inspired by racing cars.

Top-level advanced driver assistance systems within the BMW Group have been applied, and an M-exclusive sports exhaust system is also included. The price is 166.9 million KRW including VAT.
