Special Transportation-Only Platform Installed at Changwon Jungang Station
Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam is promoting the installation of exclusive stops for special transportation services to provide convenience for users of the special transportation service Nubicol.
Last month, the city installed and began operating an exclusive stop for special transportation services at Changwon Central Station to ensure safe boarding and alighting for users. Starting with Changwon Central Station, the city plans to continuously promote the creation of exclusive stops for special transportation services at major stations and general hospitals within the jurisdiction.
Until now, there were no exclusive stops for users of special transportation services, causing inconveniences such as the risk of accidents during boarding and alighting and communication difficulties with drivers while vehicles were waiting. However, with the establishment of these exclusive stops, it is expected to secure the safety of transportation-vulnerable individuals and improve satisfaction with public services.
The special transportation service Nubicol is a vehicle equipped with wheelchair boarding facilities to enhance convenience for transportation-vulnerable individuals who have difficulty using public transportation. Changwon currently operates 110 special transportation vehicles, serving 3,882 users, including those with severe disabilities who have walking impairments.
Lee Jong-geun, Director of the Transportation and Construction Bureau, stated, “We will continuously establish and implement plans to improve the convenience and environment of transportation facilities to create a safe usage environment and enhance mobility convenience for transportation-vulnerable individuals. We will also contribute to the welfare of transportation-vulnerable people through active feedback collection and communication.”
