Rep. Jung Junho Joins National Assembly's 'Passenger Plane Disaster Special Committee'

"Thorough Investigation of the Cause... Leading Support for Victims"

Jung Junho, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea representing Gwangju Buk-gu Gap, announced on the 9th that he has been selected as a member of the National Assembly's Special Committee for the Investigation of the Truth of the December 29 Airliner Disaster and Relief for Victims and Bereaved Families (Airliner Disaster Special Committee).

On the 8th, the National Assembly approved the formation of the Airliner Disaster Special Committee during a plenary session, signaling the start of a full-scale investigation. Kwon Youngjin, the ruling party secretary of the Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee, was appointed as chairperson (People Power Party), while Lee Sujin (Democratic Party of Korea) was appointed as the opposition secretary. The committee consists of 15 members: 7 from the People Power Party, 7 from the Democratic Party, and 1 from a non-negotiating group.

The Airliner Disaster Special Committee plans to investigate the cause of the airliner disaster, support victims and bereaved families, and discuss measures to prevent recurrence. The committee's term will run until June 30.

Jung was included as a member in recognition of his expertise in the transportation sector as the only Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee member from Gwangju and Jeonnam, as well as his sincerity in communicating with bereaved families and others on-site throughout the disaster period.

Jung stated, "This disaster is the worst air disaster in our history and must never happen again. I will take the lead in thoroughly investigating the causes from an objective perspective and in preparing support for victims and measures to prevent recurrence."
