Gyeongnam Province Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters Activated ... Full Preparedness for Heavy Snow Advisory and Cold Wave

Gyeongsangnam-do activated the 'Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters' on the 8th in response to the heavy snow advisory issued for the western region of Gyeongnam.


When the Korea Meteorological Administration issued a heavy snow advisory at 3:10 PM on the 8th for Hapcheon, and at 4 PM for Sancheong, Hamyang, and Geochang areas, Gyeongnam Province immediately held a situation assessment meeting and decided to activate the Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters.

The province will carry out snow removal operations such as spreading de-icing agents on icy roads in some areas, road patrols, operating automatic snow removal devices, and spreading de-icing agents on frequently icy sections to prevent casualties and property damage within the province.


According to the winter natural disaster manual, further situation management and response measures will also be promoted.


In addition, protection and publicity activities for vulnerable groups to cold waves will continue, and various media such as electronic signboards and village broadcasts will be used to continuously provide guidelines for preventing cold wave damage.


Cheon Seongbong, head of the Provincial Safety Headquarters, said, “Please drive safely to avoid accidents caused by icy roads, refrain from going out to prevent damage due to temperature drops, and pay attention to maintaining body temperature and preventing pipe freezing.”
