Ji Min-hee, a member of the Yangpyeong County Council in Gyeonggi Province, was selected as a metropolitan area local council member in the legislative category at the 20th Korea Forest Environment Awards held last December. The "Korea Forest Environment Awards" is an awards ceremony hosted and organized by the Korea Forest Environment Forum and the Korea Forest Environment Awards Committee, and sponsored by the Korea Forest Service. Since 2005, it has been awarding individuals who have contributed to preventing global warming and enhancing the environmental functions of forests.
Councilor Ji Min-hee was recognized for contributing to improving the quality of life for county residents by establishing an institutional foundation for agriculture-related systems, such as the "Yangpyeong County Agricultural Day Support Ordinance," "Yangpyeong County Livestock Industry Promotion and Development Support Ordinance," and "Ordinance on the Promotion and Support of the Millet Industry." She also took the lead in proposing ordinances such as the "Yangpyeong County Barefoot Walking Activation and Support Ordinance" and the partial amendment of the "Yangpyeong County Forestry Stakeholders and Forest Organizations Promotion Support Ordinance," thereby laying the institutional groundwork for forest and natural environment preservation and related industry development.
Councilor Ji said, “I am honored to receive this meaningful award, although I was simply doing what was right to improve the quality of life for county residents. I will continue to make efforts to enhance the public value of forests and improve the rights and interests of forestry workers.”
