"Never Watched the Video"
"Countless Self-Blames and Regrets"
"Thought It Should Never Be Made"
Actor Park Sung-hoon expressed his feelings and apologized regarding the controversy over uploading a pornographic cover featuring a nude woman.
On the 8th, Park Sung-hoon attended an interview for the Netflix series 'Squid Game' Season 2 at a cafe in Jongno-gu, Seoul, dressed in black. At the event, he mentioned the incident on the 30th of last month when he posted a Japanese AV cover featuring adult actors on his social media (SNS) account.
First, Park Sung-hoon said, "I bow my head and sincerely apologize for causing discomfort to everyone due to my huge mistake," adding, "This work was created through the hard work of many people, and I am truly sorry for causing trouble alone."
He continued, "I thought about many things, such as wishing I had just received the message and ignored it, or that I had taken a screenshot, or that I had not forwarded it," and said, "I am filled with countless self-blame, regret, and reflection."
Regarding the circumstances of posting the photo, he explained, "I received the photo via Instagram DM (direct message), and thinking it could be problematic, I tried to send it to the person in charge, but it ended up being posted on my story (a post visible for 24 hours)."
He also clarified, "I have never watched such videos, and I believe they should not be made. I have never created any suspected SNS secondary accounts as some have speculated."
At the time, Park Sung-hoon immediately deleted the problematic post after uploading it, but the photo quickly spread mainly through online communities. A few hours later, his agency stated, "Mr. Park Sung-hoon received too many DMs on his SNS, and while checking them, he mistakenly posted the photo," adding, "The actor himself was very shocked and is sorry for making such a mistake during these times. We will be careful to prevent this from happening again."
The agency also provided additional clarification the next day, saying, "We want to explain the circumstances in more detail," and "Park Sung-hoon received the photo via DM, and judging that it could be problematic, he downloaded the image while forwarding it to the company’s person in charge. He should have deleted it immediately after sending it to the person in charge, but it was mistakenly posted."
Meanwhile, Park Sung-hoon played the role of Jo Hyun-joo, an MTF (Male to Female) transgender former special forces sergeant, showcasing a striking visual in 'Squid Game' Season 2, which was released on the 26th of last month.
