Immersive Experience Program Supporting Youth Dreams and Challenges
Uijeongbu City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Dong-geun) is opening a pop-up store called ‘Future Planet 2050,’ where youth can get a preview of the future career experience theme park ‘Future Planet.’
According to Uijeongbu City on the 8th, Future Planet is scheduled to open in 2028 on the site of the former oil storage facility next to the Gwangyeok Administrative Town in Geum-o-dong.
Hosted by the city and organized by NARIBEC Co., Ltd., this event will run from January 10 to April 9 at Uijeongbu Station underground shopping mall, East 6-2, Special E booth.
The pop-up store, under the slogan ‘Tomorrow’s Me, Today,’ offers an immersive experience program set in the fictional 2050 artificial planet Future Planet. With the theme of changes and innovations in future society, it is designed to help youth enhance their understanding of new jobs and technologies and proactively prepare for the future.
Participants can naturally experience the importance of creativity and problem-solving skills by completing various missions that solve incidents occurring in future society.
The experience program is planned to strengthen core competencies through the process of participants cooperating and communicating to accomplish assigned tasks. Additionally, exciting side events such as spaceflight tests and costume events are prepared, and participants will receive abundant prizes.
In particular, this pop-up store serves as a pre-experience space for the ‘Future Planet’ scheduled to open in 2028, meaningfully showcasing the vision of the innovative experience center to be developed to the citizens in advance.
Future Planet is a future career experience theme park set in a fictional future city in 2050, where visitors can experience over 60 jobs across six fields: space, information technology (IT), energy, bio, and culture. Targeted at upper elementary to middle school grades 1-2 students, this facility will be a space that fosters creative and proactive problem-solving skills among youth.
A representative of Future Planet 2050 stated, “Future Planet is a new future education model designed to help youth prepare for emerging or disappearing jobs amid technological innovation and industrial changes,” adding, “This pop-up store will be a special opportunity for youth to discover their potential and create a chance for dreams and challenges about the future.”
