Gyeongsangnam-do Office of Education Career Education Center to be Completed by Late January

Miryang City Strengthens Cooperation through Future Planning Education and Full Support

Miryang City in Gyeongnam is set to complete the construction of the ‘Gyeongsangnam-do Office of Education Career Education Center (hereinafter Gyeongnam Career Education Center)’ by the end of this month, which will serve as an important hub for designing the futures of youth.

The Gyeongnam Career Education Center is a large-scale project with a total investment of 49.4 billion KRW, including 34.3 billion KRW from the Gyeongsangnam-do Office of Education (hereinafter the Provincial Office of Education). Located at 120 Miryang Arirang Daegongwon-ro, it covers an area of 15,714㎡ and consists of a three-story education building and a four-story dormitory. Final construction is underway aiming for completion by the end of this month, with full-scale opening scheduled for March.

The Gyeongnam Career Education Center is designed as a ‘future-oriented space’ to help youth proactively plan their careers and develop their capabilities in line with the digital and artificial intelligence era. It offers 20 experience rooms within 7 experience halls, providing opportunities to directly explore various professions and offering practical guidance for career choices.

Moreover, the most distinctive feature of the Gyeongnam Career Education Center is that each experience hall and program is tailored to students’ individual needs.

On the second floor of the education building, there are a Culture and Arts Hall where students can experience Korean culture, an Entrepreneurship and Creation Hall that helps develop startup ideas through imagination and creativity, and a ‘Career Counseling Hall’ that supports students in consulting about their career paths and setting directions.

The third floor houses an Artificial Intelligence Center where students can design future daily lives based on big data and AI, a Health and Safety Hall to experience nanotechnology, a Future Industry Hall combining Gyeongnam’s specialized industries with new technologies, an Ecological Environment Hall for climate and environmental education, and spaces for virtual robot surgery experience, forensic science experience, advanced agriculture, and exploration of future eco-friendly energy.

Miryang City plans to utilize these spaces to provide continuous education and support, enabling students to experience diverse fields, concretize their aptitudes and dreams, and design a better future.

From the design phase of the education center, the city strengthened cooperation with the Office of Education and the local community to develop regional experience programs that allow students not only to explore careers but also to enjoy Miryang’s tourism and cuisine. In November, 29 experience sites (14 public, 15 private) and 23 restaurants were finally selected through an open recruitment process.

The city expects that operating these regional experience programs will achieve the dual goals of ‘revitalizing the local economy’ and ‘advancing education.’

Mayor Ahn Byung-gu expressed high expectations, stating, “The Gyeongnam Career Education Center, opening this March, will be an important hub facility that turns the dreams of youth in Gyeongnam beyond Miryang into reality. Programs linking local industry, tourism, and cuisine will also greatly contribute to Miryang’s economic growth.”

Meanwhile, after opening in March, the Gyeongnam Career Education Center will undergo a two-month pilot operation and officially begin full operation in May. During the pilot period, various programs connecting schools and the local community will be developed, and customized career counseling, job experiences, and career exploration workshops will be continuously conducted to establish it as a future-oriented educational hub.
