Gyeongsang National University has been conducting activities to attract outstanding international students in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, from the 6th to the 10th of this month.
This activity is part of the Glocal University Project's specialized college linkage program, sharing networks and providing customized study abroad explanations for students together with Geoje College and Gyeongnam Provincial Geochang College.
Gyeongsang National University formed a 'Vietnam Visiting Delegation' consisting of Oh Jae-shin, Director of External Cooperation, Do Ha-jun, Glocal University Team Leader, Cho Soo-geun, Head of the Korean Language Center at Geoje College, Sung Jae-shin, Special Professor, Park Dong-won, Officer at Geochang College, and staff from the External Cooperation Office. They visited four universities in Ho Chi Minh City, Open University, Ho Chi Minh City Korean Language Institute, Gyeongsangnam-do Ho Chi Minh Liaison Office, Ho Chi Minh City Professional Education Association, Ganada Language Institute, and three high schools to establish overseas networks and hold 'visiting study abroad briefings.'

The Vietnam delegation visited 'Ganada Language Institute,' designated as Gyeongsang National University's overseas promotional agency, to provide study abroad counseling and information for Korean language learners. In particular, they conducted activities to recruit international students suitable for Gyeongsang National University, a four-year comprehensive university, and Geoje College and Geochang College, which are employment-oriented specialized colleges. They also visited the Ho Chi Minh City Korean Language Institute and the Gyeongsangnam-do Ho Chi Minh Liaison Office to complete business consultations on the support system for attracting international students.
Afterwards, Gyeongsang National University visited three excellent high schools in Vietnam to hold visiting study abroad briefings. Especially, together with the GNU Global Ambassador (a Vietnamese national and Gyeongsang National University student), they provided practical study abroad information such as the differentiated fields of Gyeongsang National University perceived by international students, scholarship benefits, living expenses, and academic standards.
Meanwhile, Geoje College and Geochang College visited the Ho Chi Minh City Professional Education Association and Baekgwa Specialized College to build networks with Vietnamese specialized college presidents and held online briefings to respond to the demand of Vietnamese students linked to employment.
Oh Jae-shin, Director of External Cooperation, said, “Vietnam is the second most important country for international students at Gyeongsang National University, so it is very important to understand the changing trends of international students and open channels for their admission.” He added, “We expect many international students to show interest and apply for the Global Autonomous Major Department (tentative name), which will be newly established in 2026.”
