Gwangju Dong-gu (District Mayor Lim Taek) announced on the 8th that it will conduct on-site inspections to select beneficiaries for the pilot project "The Life" low-rise residential area home repair support program, which is being promoted in Sansu-dong, an area with a high concentration of old houses.
Dong-gu is currently implementing a home repair support project to improve the quality of life for residents living in low-rise residential areas. The main support items include: ▲home repair work for performance improvements such as roof, waterproofing, windows, insulation, and facilities; ▲reconstruction of fences (up to 1.2m); ▲painting of buildings and fences; ▲replacement of main gates; and other home repairs for landscape improvement.
As a result of the application deadline for the home repair support project, about 210 households, or approximately 29% of the total 747 eligible households in the area, applied. After the document submission deadline, the district conducted a quantitative evaluation considering factors such as the age of the house, actual residence period, age, income level, and public interest. As a result, 74 households, which is 1.5 times the number of beneficiaries, were selected in the first round.
Currently, home repair specialists composed of experts in the architectural field are conducting on-site inspections of the first-round selected houses to assess the urgency of repairs and the effectiveness of residential environment improvements. Final beneficiaries will be selected through deliberation by the Residential Regeneration Committee.
District Mayor Lim Taek said, "Since many applications were received for this first-time project, we will thoroughly carry out on-site inspections to ensure that houses in urgent need of repair are given priority support," and added, "As an important first step toward improving the residential environment and realizing residential welfare, we will ensure that more households can benefit through a full-scale home repair support project following this pilot project."
