Busan Youth Creating AI Applications... A New Wave in the Content Market
Dongseo University (President Jang Je-guk) has unveiled the AI technology-based content dramas "Magical Girl - Audition Edition" and "Magical Girl - Hydrophobia Edition," produced through the "2024 Content One Campus Project" supported by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency.

After being revealed at the "Magical Girl Preview" held at Dongseo University's Sohyang Art Hall in December last year, the full episodes will be released on YouTube in January 2025 to meet audiences.
The "Magical Girl Drama Series," created through AI + content convergence education, is the result of interdisciplinary collaboration among students majoring in artificial intelligence, media content, musical entertainment, and broadcasting and video. It has been developed over four years of research as an excellent example of utilizing AI technology in the cultural and artistic content field.
In 2023, "Magical Girl - The Beginning" was presented as a fusion performance combining hologram video and live actors. Subsequently, two short dramas were produced through drama work, and stage performances and dramas will continue to be produced as a series.
Additionally, through the preview event, a special lecture by Kim Jin-sik, CEO of the motion capture company EMP, was held, along with a musical performance featuring digital humans jointly produced by the Musical Entertainment Department and EMP, showcasing the connection between student research and corporate technology. CEO Kim Jin-sik expressed his expectations, stating, "We will actively support the development of new content linking EMP's digital human technology with the university's content production capabilities."
Dongseo University plans to continuously develop magical girl content by utilizing the AI magical girl character results developed through the convergence of AI and various content fields. Using the content production technology developed during the project, the university will create an "AI-based content production education platform" to allow more students and companies to gain experience, thereby introducing a new content production paradigm to the content industry.
Lee Jun-seok, head of Dongseo University's Content One Campus Project, said, "The magical girl character utilizing AI is the result of continuous convergence education in AI and digital content. We will strive to establish it as a brand through ongoing series production."
