Minister Yusangim Visits DC to Inspect Disaster Safety Preparedness
"Providing Stable Digital Services in Cooperation with Businesses"
Yoo Sang-im, Minister of Science and ICT, visited the SK C&C Pangyo Data Center on the 8th to inspect the safety management status of the data center.
The visit proceeded in the order of checking data center operations and safety measures, followed by inspection of key facilities. Minister Yoo checked the disaster safety preparedness of core power supply facilities (battery, UPS, emergency generator), server rooms, and the integrated facility control situation room, which are essential to data center operations.
Since the 2022 incident, SK C&C has reinforced safety management by enhancing the measurement functions of the Battery Management System (BMS), installing additional fire detection equipment to strengthen fire prevention, installing fire curtains to prevent fire spread, and implementing power redundancy for stable power supply.
Minister Yoo stated, "Digital infrastructure such as data centers plays a key role in providing essential digital services to the public. Going forward, the government and businesses will continue to work closely to ensure the stable provision of digital services."
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Science and ICT plans to inspect preparedness and emergency response systems against winter disasters, fires, emergency power supply, and sudden traffic surges at major information and communication facilities such as period communication, value-added communication, and data centers throughout this month.
