Simultaneous Prevention of 6 Infectious Diseases
Completed with a Total of 4 Vaccinations
Ulsan City is administering the ‘6-in-1 combination vaccine’ to children, which can simultaneously prevent six infectious diseases including pertussis, poliomyelitis, and hepatitis B.
The 6-in-1 combination vaccine is a new vaccine that can prevent hepatitis B along with the five infectious diseases preventable by the existing 5-in-1 combination vaccine (diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, poliomyelitis, and Haemophilus influenzae type B) all at once.
The vaccination schedule is also shortened from the previous 6 doses to 4 doses.
However, newborns of hepatitis B positive mothers need to prevent vertical transmission of hepatitis B, so they must receive a total of 6 doses as before.
The vaccination is provided free of charge, and those who wish to receive it can check through the Vaccination Helper website or their local public health center.
An official from Ulsan City stated, “The current vaccination schedule remains unchanged, and since this is the initial phase of introducing the new 6-in-1 combination vaccine, vaccine availability and other conditions may vary. Therefore, please confirm in advance with the pediatric vaccination entrusted medical institution you usually visit and consult according to the vaccination schedule before getting vaccinated.”
