Korea Western Power held the ‘2024 Active Administration Excellence Department and Employee Awards Ceremony’ at its headquarters in Taean, Chungnam on the 7th.


The Audit Office of Korea Western Power holds this annual awards ceremony to eliminate passive administration within the organization and to establish a culture of proactive administration.


This award was given to departments and individuals who achieved outstanding results by taking a proactive and creative approach to their work.


The Audit Office received recommendations for 19 departments and 19 employees, and after a document review and on-site inspection, selected 6 departments and 6 employees as award recipients.


The honor of Best Department went to the Safety and Environment Department of the Gimpo Power Division, which achieved an S grade (the highest grade) in the Process Safety Management (PSM) implementation status evaluation at a new power plant.


In addition, two departments, including the Fuel Procurement Department of the Fuel and Materials Division, were selected as Excellent Departments for their achievements in improving the company’s financial structure through proactive cost management at each stage of bituminous coal introduction.


Three departments were selected as Encouragement Departments for effectively operating a public-private partnership system led by Korea Western Power and facilitating timely commencement of construction at the Gongju natural gas power plant through active communication.


Among the employees, Kim Jaesu, Manager of the Chemical Equipment Department at the No.1 Power Generation Division of the Taean Power Division, received the Best Employee Award for successfully overcoming water shortages caused by a metropolitan water supply outage through organic collaboration between local governments and the Korea Water Resources Corporation.


Next, Kim Yeontae, Deputy Manager of the Infrastructure Construction Team at the Gimpo Power Division, and one other employee received the Excellent Employee Award for contributing to cost savings by securing a new industrial water source for the Gimpo Combined Heat and Power Plant. Three others, including Lee Sangwon, Deputy Manager of the Chemical Equipment Department at the Taean Power Division, received the Encouragement Award for reducing wastewater generation and increasing treatment capacity at the Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle (IGCC) plant.


Song Jaeseop, Standing Auditor of Korea Western Power, stated, “We plan to establish an organizational culture that rewards creative and proactive employees by discovering and widely sharing excellent cases,” and added, “Through this, we will strengthen the organization’s innovation capacity and take the lead in providing more efficient public services.”
