1,865 Selected, Full Support of 800,000 KRW for 810 People, Reduced Support for 1,055 People
Collaboration with Dongnamwon Nuclear Medicine Hospital for 6 Major Cancer and Cerebrovascular Precision Examinations
Busan Gijang-gun will recruit participants for the ‘2025 Gijang-gun Residents' Health Promotion Project’ for 8 days from the 8th to the 17th.
The ‘Gijang-gun Residents' Health Promotion Project’ is a program in which Gijang-gun supports health examination costs for residents to lead a healthy life. It is linked with the Southeastern Nuclear Medicine Institute and provides support for the costs of detailed examinations for the six major cancers prevalent among Koreans and cerebrovascular diseases.
This year, a total of 1,865 people will be selected. Residents who wish to participate can apply at the administrative welfare centers of their respective jurisdictions during the recruitment period. The selection results will be announced after the target selection committee meeting at the end of February, and can be checked on the county website.
Selected residents can choose either a comprehensive cancer screening or a cerebrovascular examination and will receive the examination at the Southeastern Nuclear Medicine Institute.
▲ Seniors aged 65 or older ▲ National merit recipients ▲ Basic livelihood security recipients ▲ Low-income class ▲ Single-parent families ▲ Registered disabled persons will receive full support of 800,000 KRW for examination costs, while residents aged 40 or older who do not fall under these categories will receive 700,000 KRW in support and pay only 100,000 KRW out-of-pocket for the expensive examination.
Eligibility for application is based on having a registered address in Gijang-gun as of the announcement date (December 16, 2024) and continuous residence for more than 3 years, or among those relocated from other areas due to nuclear power plant construction, those who had resident registration in Gijang-eup’s Gori, Hyoam-ri, or Gilcheon-ri before May 31, 2003, and have continuously lived there for more than 3 years, aged 40 or older.
Additionally, foreigners who have foreigner registration in Gijang-gun and have continuously stayed for more than 3 years, and foreigners aged 40 or older who are married to Korean nationals, are eligible to apply.
County Governor Jeong Jong-bok said, “As the era of 100 years of life arrives, interest in healthy living is increasing, and the importance of health examinations as a basic measure to maintain health is being emphasized. Through this project, we expect to reduce the burden of health examination costs and help residents lead healthy lives by early detection of diseases through examinations.”
Through the health promotion project, Gijang-gun has invested about 1 billion KRW annually in county funds over the past 15 years, supporting approximately 14.3 billion KRW in examination costs, and about 24,000 residents have received support for examination costs.
