Amid a counterfeit controversy surrounding Stussy sweatshirts sold by a partner company in the event spaces of Emart and Traders, Emart has apologized to consumers who purchased the products and proactively initiated refund measures.


According to industry sources on the 7th, a partner company of Emart and Traders recently sold Stussy sweatshirts in a separate event space within the store that were found to be parallel import products, differing from official merchandise. This was confirmed through a YouTube creator. The YouTuber posted a video stating that the Stussy sweatshirt purchased at Traders was priced much lower than the genuine product, and after requesting authentication from a luxury goods appraisal agency and a secondhand goods trading platform, it was determined to be counterfeit.

Emart stated, "The product was sold by a partner company operating in event spaces inside and outside the store. We are currently working with the partner company to thoroughly verify the authenticity of the product through multiple verification agencies." They added, "Although the authenticity of the product has not yet been confirmed, we have proactively stopped sales of the product immediately upon the emergence of the controversy and are swiftly processing full refunds for customers who wish to return the item."


They continued, "We apologize for the inconvenience caused to our customers due to the counterfeit controversy involving products sold by our company," and added, "We will use this incident as an opportunity to further strengthen quality control and inspection systems for partner company event products."


Stussy is a U.S. street fashion brand that is popular among young people in Korea as well. It is known that about 1,000 units of the products subject to refunds have been identified due to this controversy. Recently, in the fashion industry, a controversy arose over the filling material ratio of padding sold through Musinsa and Who.A.U, which differed from the actual content.
