The Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association (Chairman Song Pil-ho) announced on the 7th that the Korea Professional Baseball Players Association (Chairman Yang Hyeon-jong) donated 50 million KRW to help the families of the victims of the passenger plane accident.
Yang Hyeon-jong (KIA Tigers), chairman of the Players Association, said, "Many citizens were shocked and saddened by the sudden accident," adding, "Professional baseball players also deeply mourn and made this donation hoping it can provide some comfort." Since the 2017 Pohang earthquake, the Players Association has consistently participated in donations during various disasters such as typhoons and heavy rains, demonstrating positive influence.
Shin Hoon, Secretary General of Hope Bridge, expressed, "We deeply appreciate the positive influence shown by professional baseball players, who are representative popular athletes in our country," and said, "We will do our best to ensure that the donated funds provide practical support to the bereaved families."
