Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, Begins Special Meeting with Residents 'Neighborhood Communication Day'

Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo District, attended the 'Dong Happiness and Communication Day with the Mayor' held at Mangwon 1-dong Community Center on the morning of January 7.

'Dong Communication Day' is an open meeting where the mayor directly meets residents to share district goals and major projects and listen to local issues firsthand. It is a project reflecting Mapo District's desire to get closer to its residents.

On this day, district executives, including heads of relevant departments, also joined to actively resolve residents' complaints.

Mayor Park Gang-su first awarded commendations to five exemplary residents who contributed to the local community and expressed words of encouragement.

Afterwards, they shared the changes and future plans of Mangwon 1-dong by listening to the residents' presentations titled 'Our Dong Has Changed' and the Mangwon 1-dong chief's 'Dong Specialized Project Report.'

Then, in a comfortable and candid atmosphere, they discussed local issues with about 100 residents, listened to suggestions and difficulties, and carried out on-site communication administration.

Mayor Park Gang-su said, "Since each dong has different characteristics and atmospheres, in 2025, we plan to implement a 'one dong, one specialized project' that strengthens the autonomy of each dong." He added, "I hope the specialized project of Mangwon 1-dong, 'Our Neighborhood Alley Guardians,' will create safe alleys and enhance satisfaction for residents and visitors."

He continued, "Mapo District will also spare no interest and support in various fields such as revitalizing commercial areas and creating smart farms, which are solutions for future food sources."
