Gyeongsan City Expands Postpartum Care Support Fund to 1 Million Won

Gyeongsan, Ideal for Childbirth and Parenting, Expands Various Pregnancy and Birth Benefits

Gyeongsan City in Gyeongbuk Province is supporting 'postpartum care expenses' as part of its project to create a 'city good for having and raising children.'

On the 7th, Gyeongsan City announced that starting from January 1, 2025, it will expand the postpartum care expense support to up to 1 million KRW per childbirth family.

Until last year, Gyeongsan City provided postpartum care expense support of up to 500,000 KRW per childbirth family, but since the cost burden related to postpartum care after childbirth was found to be significant, the support amount will be increased to up to 1 million KRW for births from 2025.

The support target is families where either the father or mother has a registered address in Gyeongsan City and has registered the birth. This applies regardless of income criteria and is effective for births after 0:00 on January 1, 2025. For births in 2024, the existing support amount of up to 500,000 KRW will be maintained.

Postpartum care expenses cover costs related to childbirth used within six months from the newborn's birth date at hospitals/clinics (including Korean medicine hospitals/clinics), pharmacies, postpartum care centers, and visiting postpartum helper services. Applications must be submitted by visiting the Gyeongsan City Public Health Center within one year from the newborn's birth date with the required documents prepared.

Additionally, due to the increase in childbirth age raising the probability of high-risk pregnancies, medical expense support of up to 500,000 KRW has been added for mothers aged 35 and older, and childbirth families will also receive a childbirth congratulatory box worth approximately 150,000 KRW.

Furthermore, various benefits to overcome low birth rates are being provided, such as a 50,000 KRW coupon for the Saiseo shopping mall, which can be used to purchase agricultural and marine products, for families with two or more children residing in the jurisdiction.
