Pocheon’s First Successful Private Park Special Project
Pocheon City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Young-hyun) announced on the 7th that the 'Taebong Park Private Park Development Special Project' has been successfully completed.
Taebong Park has remained a 'long-term unexecuted park' for 47 years since it was designated as a park in 1974 due to issues with land compensation and development costs. With the urban park sunset policy threatening to revoke its park designation, there were concerns about indiscriminate development.
In response, the city promoted a private park special project to attract private capital to supplement insufficient finances and reduce budget costs. The private park special project allows private park promoters to donate more than 70% of the long-term unexecuted park area and develop non-park facilities (facilities permitted in green, residential, and commercial areas) on the remaining 30% of the land.
The city received the donation of a total of 98,890㎡ of park land and park facilities such as a complex community center, and approved the construction of apartments (Taebong Park Prugio Parkmont) covering 32,899.4㎡ as non-park facilities. The donation of park facilities was completed last year, and the apartments (non-park facilities) have begun occupancy.
Through this project, Pocheon City saved approximately 41.7 billion KRW in land compensation and construction costs. Additionally, through related projects such as the EduCare Platform Development Project, Living SOC Complex Project, Public Parking Lot Construction Project, and Taebong Neighborhood Park Development Project, various resident convenience facilities will be established on the secured park land, aiming to improve citizens' living conditions.
Mayor Baek Young-hyun of Pocheon said, "Taebong Park will become a space for citizens' leisure and relaxation, as well as a landmark of Pocheon where new facilities and the natural environment harmoniously coexist," adding, "We will continue to expand resident convenience facilities to enhance the quality of life for our citizens."
Meanwhile, Pocheon City plans to complete the entire park development through the Taebong Neighborhood Park Development Project by the first half of 2027.
