Ulju-gun Achieves 451 Million KRW in Hometown Love Donations Last Year

Ulsan's Ulju-gun announced on the 7th that it achieved 451 million KRW in hometown love donation fundraising last year, exceeding the target amount of 220 million KRW by 205%.

Ulju-gun recorded the highest fundraising amount among Ulsan local governments last year, following 2023, marking the first place in fundraising for two consecutive years.

Last year, 3,683 donors contributed a total of 451 million KRW. This is an increase of 185 million KRW compared to the 266 million KRW donated in the first year of implementation in 2023.

Donations under 100,000 KRW accounted for 355 million KRW from 3,621 donors, making up 79%, while donations of 1 million KRW or more reached 90 million KRW from 42 donors, accounting for 20%.

By region, donors were most numerous from Ulsan (Nam-gu, Jung-gu), Seoul, Gyeonggi, Gyeongnam, and Busan, in that order. The most preferred thank-you gifts among donors were Korean beef and Eonyang-style grilled bulgogi, sesame oil, Boksundoga, Bobaek, Hwangwoo rice, kimchi, and pear bread.

On this day, Ulju-gun posted a video expressing gratitude to donors who participated in the hometown love donation on the electronic display board at the entrance of the county office.

County Governor Lee Soon-geol said, “We deeply appreciate the warm hearts of donors from all over the country,” and added, “The donations will be used valuably to improve the welfare of Ulju residents and to create a happy Ulju-gun.”

Starting this year, the annual individual limit for hometown love donations has been expanded from the existing 5 million KRW to 20 million KRW. The donations will be used to support vulnerable groups, revitalize local communities, and promote resident welfare projects.

Ulju-gun plans to select and promote fund projects for creating a Happy Ulju through a nationwide idea contest and collecting donors’ opinions this year.
