Imsil-gun Selected for 'Rural Creatour Support' Contest

Securing 250 Million Won in Project Funds

Imsil County in North Jeolla Province announced on the 7th that it has been selected for the "Rural Creatour Support" public contest project organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.

This project focuses on revitalizing rural areas and providing visitors with creative and innovative experiences, with the goal of boosting rural tourism and the local economy.

The project adopts a model in which existing rural experience and recreation villages, tourism management entities, travel experts (travel agencies), and young people collaborate to develop and operate creative and differentiated rural-themed tourism products. The core aim is to create new tourism trends in rural areas through this approach.

To carry out this project, a joint council (operating organization) called "Imsil Osil" has been formed as a private rural tourism cooperation network. The Imil Regional Vitality Network Project Group, a non-profit corporation, will serve as the intermediary support organization, while the Imsil County Rural Experience and Recreation Village Network will develop and operate the tourism products.

The new tourism products are divided into four one-day packages and one overnight package, allowing visitors to choose between a day trip or a one-night, two-day stay.

The one-day packages include "Cheese Matbosi," "Seomjingang Gasi," "Okjeongho Bosi," and "Nongak Jeulgisi," while the overnight package is called "Chon Kangseu Hasi."

With a project budget of 250 million won secured, the county expects that this initiative will help attract more residents to the area and contribute to addressing the risk of local depopulation.

County Governor Shim Min said, "We expect this project to inject new vitality into rural tourism," adding, "We will make even greater efforts to ensure that tourists visiting the county during the Year of Visit have a satisfying travel experience."
