City Bus Arrival Information, Route Details
Bus Location and More Available on Mobile
Sacheon City in Gyeongnam has completed the establishment of a mobile bus information system and will begin full-scale implementation starting this month.
According to the city on the 7th, citizens using bus stops without Bus Information Terminals (BIT) have experienced significant inconvenience due to the inability to access bus arrival information. Currently, the installation rate of BITs at Sacheon City bus stops is only 11% of all stops.
In response, the city promoted a mobile bus information system construction project from the second half of last year with a budget of 10 million KRW to enhance the convenience for bus users, and recently completed it.
Additionally, QR code promotional materials have been attached to pole-type signboard stops that do not have city bus timetables and route status notices. For enclosed bus stops, attachment is planned to be completed in January with the cooperation of the Eup/Myeon/Dong administrative welfare centers.
This mobile bus information system includes convenient features such as bus arrival information, route information, nearby stops, bus location tracking, and route finding.
Users can access the system by searching for ‘Sacheon City Bus Information System’ on portal apps like Naver via their mobile phones or by scanning the QR code attached inside the bus stop with their phone camera for immediate use.
Meanwhile, the city plans to replace all bus timetables inside bus stops, which are currently printed on paper and suffer from color fading and creasing, with latex-coated materials by January. This will improve waterproofing and prevent discoloration and tampering.
In particular, to assist elderly citizens who may have difficulties using mobile phones, customized city bus route maps for each bus stop have been in production since last year. These maps include city bus arrival times and route maps.
A city official stated, “We will continue to improve the public transportation system so that citizens can use public transit more conveniently, economically, and safely.”
